Just over a week to go now, so I'm starting this thread for players to do any last-minute posturing, I mean role playing, and to post up their photos and AARs after the event.

The story so far.... http://hereford1938.blogspot.co.uk/2014 ... -news.html

Image

As the Royalists (including the newly formed King's Colonial Legion) and BUF (under the command of the ruthless Captain Arrowsmith) rush to secure the strategic railway junctions at Titley and Eardisley against a combined Anglican League/Welsh Nationalist offensive, forces Sir Gilbert's Golden Valley Protectorate have been forced to make a detour from a planned advance to secure Dorestone Junction, to deal with the local gentry of the Landowners' Protection Association at Longtown before they can threaten his rear. Meanwhile the Socialists are also on the move, looking to gain whatever advantage they can.

All factions are desperately short of fuel and ammunition, and steps have been taken to ration these precious resources.
Meanwhile, various organisations and individuals have stepped forward to assist (or not) the various causes, while rumours abound of a shipment of arms en-route to the county being hijacked by a strange group of masked men...

We have a major piece of scenery to deploy hopefully, so there should be a lot of eye candy.
;)

Dispatches from the front:

Royalists forced from the heights near Titley Junction by cross-dressing Welsh barbarians and their Red allies. Hereford territorials very badly mauled after giving as good as they got but Kings Colonials still in good shape. Royalist artillery still intact and forcing the battered Taffs to dig in and halt their advance.

Anglican League believed to be within shouting distance of Eardisley Station but combined BUF and Royalist defence ensures they go no further. Rumours of airpower making its first appearance in the Shire.

Rival landowners clash along the border as Sir Gilbert and Welsh Leftist allies attempt to dislodge local gentry from Longtown. Bad going slows the assault and the locals rumoured to still be in control of the ruins of Longtown Castle.

Photos, write ups and general propaganda to follow as the dust settles!

Sir Gilbert's account of his resounding and (almost) bloodless victory will follow in due course.

Signed: Fragrance Sweetmeat, Secretary, Sir Gilbert Hill (Bart)

Well a great day and an excellent turn out for VBCW. Three very good tables laid out with terrain and a well crafted storyline for each table.

Great players and as ever with VBCW I did not hear a raised voice in argument. A rare thing for a collection of wargamers.

My part being a small bit in the days conflict follows

Lady Bramton Bryn and her force of Ladies

were tasked with holding the Village against the socialists.

Supported by Sir Giles we laid out our meager forces. Sir Gilbert and his reds advanced towards us to plant his red flag and dispoal our lovely hamlet. God had been kind to us with a major downpour before the Battle which made the ground very wet and restricted movement in the fields. His vehicles kept bogging down and his lead tank even came at us in reverse to cope with the ground!

Our greatest lost was the brave section of Ladies under the command of Lady Maud who tried to hold the large farmhouse from the Red tide but was forced back after great numbers were launched against her. With fuel and ammunition in short supply our Gun managed little work during the day and the lorries could only be used as road blocks to stem the tide. We held the village in the end and our ready whenever to stem this red invasion.
